Standard Bank announces contribution to the Western Cape amid floods

Standard Bank has announced a significant donation of R 3 million to assist the flood-ravaged region of the Western Cape. The devastating floods have left many individuals without access to necessities such as food, water, and warm clothing.

Recognising the urgent need for humanitarian relief and emergency interventions in the affected areas, Standard Bank has allocated R 1 million each to the South African Red Cross, The South African Rescue, and Standard Bank's OneFarm Share. These organizations are actively involved in providing immediate assistance and support to the affected communities.

"Standard Bank recognises the urgency of the situation in the flood-affected areas of the Western Cape and as a responsible corporate citizen we realise the need to assist where possible," said Lungisa Fuzile, Standard Bank South Africa Chief Executive.

“Standard Bank extends its heartfelt condolences to the communities in the Western Cape that have suffered the loss of loved ones, injuries, or damage to their properties during this challenging time” said Fuzile.

The bank hopes that its generous donation will significantly contribute to the efforts of dedicated non-governmental organizations, which are working tirelessly to make a tangible difference and alleviate the plight of countless families.

"We are committed to supporting the local communities and helping them recover from this devastating event. Our donation aims to provide immediate relief and aid in rebuilding the lives of those affected,” added Fuzile.

Standard Bank encourages its customers, employees, and the public to join the relief efforts by making additional contributions. Several branches in the Western Cape have established donation points where individuals can provide further assistance.
